FutureShip Competences Efficiency Optimization
Efficiency Optimization
Efficiency Optimization FutureShip is specialized in developing and fine-tuning ship hull forms. We systematically model, vary and analyze many hundreds or thousands of candidate designs in an automated process based on our unique parametric approach. Together with your team, key objectives and constraints are identified. FutureShip sets up formal optimizations to explore the design space and to exploit promising candidates. Finally, FutureShip advises in choosing the best hull form and follows or carries out the associated tank testing.

FutureShip provides services in the following fields of hydrodynamics:
  • Systematic and formal hydrodynamic optimization of hull
    • Hull lines
    • Forebody lines
    • Bulbous bow
  • Systematic and formal hydrodynamic optimization of appendages
    • Optimization and alignment of appendages
    • Detailed hydrodynamic analysis of the propulsion system including assessment of cavitation
    • Advanced hull-propeller and rudder-propeller interaction analysis
  • Surface and skin friction reduction
    • Coatings
    • Skin friction reduction systems
The case studies of a multi purpose container carrier optimization and a dredge optimization highlight two projects where a formal hydrodynamic optimization of the hull lines has been carried out to reduce the resistance by 5% and 5.7% respectively.
